   PCBs

An electrical transformer or fluorescent light bulb ballasts. They are everyday pieces of equipment found at colleges and universities. They are also a possible risk. Why? Because they may contain polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Here are some of the questions you should consider regarding PCBs:

  • Does any equipment found on site contain PCBs?
  • How are PCB-containing items handled throughout disposal?

Electrical transformers are just one place where you might find PCBs. For the purpose of illustration, it's the example we use to present the laws, regulations and best practices associated with PCBs potentially applicable to your waste storage area, as you'll discover as you continue on this EVC tour.
