RECORDKEEPING > Overview

At this point in the EVC tour, you know that your school generates hazardous waste and you probably already know a bit about how to store the waste, but then what? How does it get shipped off site to a facility permitted to treat, store or dispose of the waste? The simple answer is that hazardous waste must be shipped under a WTNs (as part of Duty of Care), i.e., a document that summarises the history of the shipment beginning with the generator, followed by the transpsorter(s), the facility that handles or treats the waste, and then back to the generator.

A detailed discussion on hazardous waste generator classification follows in this section of the EVC. Continue on with this EVC to learn more about hazardous WTNs and land disposal restriction requirements potentially applicable to your campus’ hazardous wastes.
