Clinical Wastes/Incinerators |
AIR > Overview
If your lab or campus has a clinical waste incinerator, although
this is becoming more and more unlikely, then there are number of
pieces of Legislation to be aware of including:
- Waste Incinerator Directives- 2000/76/EC
- Clean Air Act
- Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) and Integrated Pollution
Prevention and Control (IPPC)
The requirements include emission limits for specific air pollutants
such as particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, oxides
of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, lead, cadmium, mercury, dioxins and
dibenzofurans, and fugitive ash dust.
In addition the standards set out requirements for operator qualifications
and training, monitoring and testing procedures, operational parameters,
and inspections.
Continue on through this EVC section to learn more about air pollution
control requirements associated with air emissions monitoring potentially
applicable to clinical waste incinerators.
