Duty of Care (EPA 1990) and Hazardous Waste Regulations, along with other regulations, require a waste producer to be able to document the waste they produce, how they dispose of the waste and to whom, i.e. an approved contractor.

This recording keeping must be auditable and records stored safely, in some cases for several years.
