Environmental Issues
and Regulations
A new report on the Carbon Reduction Commitment, EPBD and EU-ETS
- Details of regulations (now updated to 2007) in full (Environmental Virtual Campus) and in Summary.

People and Planet
Like it or not (and there are some problems with using EMS data for benchmarking - as P&P does - as section 4 of a past HEEPI paper discusses), this is only following the Govt's aim of encouraging 'naming and shaming' through more disclosure of environmental information. A new HEEPI report discusses two new regulations which take this even further, and will have big impacts on HE.

Building Benchmarking
- See our recent reports on benchmarking laboratories and residences, and the results from our 2002-4 benchmarking round, plus details of our other benchmarking activities. Also compare your buildings to sector benchmarks, and identify savings and carbon reduction potential, with our Excel tool.

What is HEEPI?

HEEPI is a project funded under the Leadership, Governance and Management initiative of the Higher Education Funding Council for England. The project is based at, and led by, the University of Bradford. The project steering group includes AUDE, BRE, BUFDG, EAUC, TEC, SCOP and UUK.

The project has four main areas of work:

Assisting energy and environmental management in higher education by providing information, running events, developing cases and guidance materials, and other means

Identifying and disseminating best practice in energy and environmental management through the annual Green Gown Awards

Stimulating HE interest in, and take up off, high performance buildings which combine good environmental performance with effective functionality

Developing the capacity of staff with environment-related responsibilities to achieve positive environmental change within their institutions through action workshops and other means.
